On June 22, 2013 Keeler sponsored Reptile Day at John Ball Park Zoo in homage to the Keeler Lizard. There were fun activities for zoo-goers including the Keeler Scavenger Hunt. Over 500 participants collected Lizard Fact Cards at Keeler Stations throughout the zoo. Keeler gave away prizes upon completion of the scavenger hunt and over 170 people entered to win their own Keeler Lizard, zoo passes and a Keeler kitchen hardware makeover. The Keeler volunteers had a great time connecting with the West Michigan community and hearing stories about Keeler Brass Company.
Keeler helped sponsor the 2013 Grandville Independence Day Parade. The celebration lasted for three days and featured several family-friendly events including: a 3 on 3 basketball tournament, craft show, parade and the annual fireworks show.
Habitat for Humanity Partnership
Keeler is aiding West Michigan families by partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Kent County in the fall of 2013. Incidentally, Keeler is celebrating its 120th anniversary in the same year that Habitat reaches their 30th anniversary. We believe in Habitat's mission to build hope and transform lives through neighborhood revitalization and homeownership. We are supporting Habitat by giving a financial donation, donating hundreds of hardware items and providing manpower through employee volunteers.
Keeler employees are entering ArtPrize 2013 in Grand Rapids. They are creating a unique and interactive piece that includes light and sound. Stay tuned for more updates and sneak peeks on our Facebook Page!
To chronicle Keeler's rich history, we are developing a book to highlight Keeler's legacy, innovation and artistry. Keep in contact with Keeler through our Facebook Page for updates and sneak peeks on the book's release.
Keeler has collected hundreds of historical artifacts throughout the years. Upon completion of our historical Keeler Book in 2013, the items will be donated to the Grand Rapids Public Library.
